Book Ends June 13

JUNE 2013

Goodreads Summary: For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks. Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined

My Thoughts:  IT was surprisingly good. I love how the main character is a 'poor' red-head. I can totally relate! The story and characters are good. I just hope it stays this good in the next book..

Goodreads Summary: When Wendy Everly was six years old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. Eleven years later, Wendy discovers her mother might have been right. She’s not the person she’s always believed herself to be, and her whole life begins to unravel—all because of Finn Holmes. Now Wendy’s about to journey to a magical world she never knew existed, one that’s both beautiful and frightening. And where she must leave her old life behind to discover who she’s meant to become…

My Thoughts: WOW! I loved this. It's new and different. I have read other books with changelings in them but never one solely about one I am in love with this!

Rate: 3 Stars. (reason is coming...)

Goodreads Summary: Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now. Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

My Thoughts: When I started reading this, I thought that it was strange. I got to a point where I wasn't sure if I was able to finish it. It kept me going because I still had questions that I wanted answered. I am glad that I continued to read because the book did get better towards the end.
Now I am curious as to what the second book will hold.

Goodreads Summary: THE LIGHTBEARERS is the story of an ancient Egyptian King and Queen, Akhenaton and Nefertiti, who have been reincarnating together for the past 3300 years. They have been entrusted with the mission of The Lightbearers, whose responsibility is to be guardians of the human race and to enlighten any whose path they cross. Through reincarnation, during each of their lifetimes, they strive to overcome violence, greed and injustice and in each lifetime they leave pockets of individuals with whom they have shared their secrets of life and death. They have also been ascribed with the powers of telepathy, astral projection and psycho kinesis. They are highly evolved and highly enlightened.

My Thoughts:I gave this book 2 stars because I did enjoy the story and believe it had great potential. It didn't make it any further because I believe this book was trying to be to many genres at once. Si-Fi, Murder Mystery, Romance, Fantasy. To many fitting into one book for me. I also think that there was almost too much detail. I lOVED getting to know the characters and even the secondary character but it was a little over done.  Overall, it's good but not that good. Sorry.

Goodreads Summary: Meet Pat. Pat has a theory: his life is a movie produced by God. And his God-given mission is to become physically fit and emotionally literate, whereupon God will ensure a happy ending for him -- the return of his estranged wife Nikki. (It might not come as a surprise to learn that Pat has spent time in a mental health facility.) The problem is, Pat's now home, and everything feels off. No one will talk to him about Nikki; his beloved Philadelphia Eagles keep losing; he's being pursued by the deeply odd Tiffany; his new therapist seems to recommend adultery as a form of therapy. Plus, he's being hunted by Kenny G!

My Thoughts: WOW! I was surprised how much I liked this book. It's funny but holds so much truth to it. The characters are much like real people and there is something for everyone in the book, something that everyone can relate to. It's defiantly worth the read!

Goodreads Summary: When Wendy Everly first discovers the truth about herself—that she’s a changeling switched at birth—she knows her life will never be the same. Now she’s about to learn that there’s more to the story…
Torn between her heart and her people, between love and duty, Wendy must decide her fate. If she makes the wrong choice, she could lose everything, and everybody, she’s ever wanted…in both worlds.

My Thoughts: Typical filler book. It is worse then Crossed. I am not a fan of filler but this one take the cake of bad. There is hardly anything in here. Top that with a weird love triangle and her 'sudden' need to save 'her' people...blah...
Sorry but this didn't cut it for me. I can only hope that the third one is better.

Goodreads Summary: The FabYOUList: List it, Live it, Love Your Life invites you along on every madcap escapade as Susan ventures outside her comfort zone and into the adventure of her life, ultimately coming face-to-face with what she discovers has been her biggest obstacle all along—herself.

My Thoughts: While I did really enjoy this book I do have issues. First, this IS NOT A SELF HELP. If you want to learn how to achieve your dream/bucket list/whatever this isn't the book for you. Two, it really should be listed as a memoir. Three, it is organized by category. Not that it's important but it would be neat to see which goal she was able to achieve first and etc. Four, this isn't for my age of people (20) and is better fit for older adults. Five, she is RICH!! There is a certain place that she goes that would take 10 years to save up enough to go and that is just ONE. There is no way I can do my bucket list without being as rich as her.Although if you set aside those factors, it's a good book. You can learn alot about what happened to her and how completing her goal made her, her. It was pretty charming and I probably would recommend it to a friends. =]

Goodreads Summary: When thirteen-year-old orphan Penny Sinclair moves to the small town of Dogwood to live with her godmother, she expects her life to become very dull. She doesn't expect to find a strange talking fox roaming the countryside near her new home, a kindred spirit in her new friend Zoe, or the secret grove where they discover the long hidden magic of The Phoenix Girls.

My Thoughts: **I received this book through Goodreads giveaway.

Pretty good. A little young for me, but it would be great for girls of the age 10-17. I also had a hard time following some of the descriptions but that was probably just me. All in all, I am curious how the rest of the story will go.

Goodreads Summary: Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

My Thoughts: It was good but not what I was expecting in the least. I liked the twist that it took but at the same time I don't. It made it to different but I am excited to read the second book. CLIFFHANGER! Oh how I hate them so you know I am going to read the second one.

You did read a lot! A lot of series too! Wow! :) I read the Trylle trilogy. Overall, I enjoyed it. It was definitely a different concept, but there were plenty of things that seemed odd. It was entertaining. Have you read the Hex Hall series? That seems to be similar to the books you're reading.

You read way more than I do! I think I'm just bored with my selection so I love this for book ideas.
