Goals // Home

Yesterday I wrote about how I have Goal finishing to do. I have finally sat down and wrote down what I would feel I need to do to complete each of my goals. Then I have went back and wrote down tiny steps I can do to help me achieve my main goals. Then I broke them down into categorizes; HomeHealth, WorkPersonal and Spirit. This post is going to be all about my goals relating to the Home.

Home Goal 1-Purge
I would love to have my house purged of all unused, broken, untouched, random things. I have been learning that it's not about what you have but how you use what you do. I have a sickening about of stuff. I don't want to live like that. I want to live with what I can and give the rest to someone else. Ideally this means to me that I have everything organized and put away (or at least a place where it should go cause to be honest, Im a hot mess when it come to cleaning). In other words, have a place for everything.

To achieve this really big daunting goal I have set myself some tasks to set me in the right directions. First, I need to I need to really know how much room do I have to store stuff in. Realistically, my closet should hold all of my clothes. Yet at the moment I also have a spare room holding extra. I need to see how many clothes my closet can handle and only have that many clothes. This also applies for other areas in my house, like bookshelves. Do I really need 100+ books I haven't read? Not really. It's time to really look at what I can do with each room and how much space is going to storage.

Once that is done, then comes the hardest part, getting rid of. I know for a fact there is no way I can keep everything I have already. I have the mind set to rid myself of extra but I think knowing the space that I am working in will help. I be able to truly see if an item will be used or just going to hang out. That hanging out could be used for better.

Then after I finish all that. I am pretty much done. Yay.

Home Goal 2-Clutter
I completely get this is just like the other goal. Yet, this was made because I wanted to free myself from clutter. Once I purge I won't have clutter. But the steps or tasks are a little different with this goal.

First I need to figure out which room to start in. I know it seems easy but really how many of you have problem with just starting? I know I do. I think the first part is figure out which room do I need to tackle the clutter first. Most likely it will be my bedroom. Yup, keeping it real and honest on this blog.

Then I need to write out what need to be done in that room. Most rooms will have the basic check list of vacuuming, wiping down walls, and ect but some rooms have furniture that need to be moved or donated. While other rooms require bleach, which is something I can't handle (but physically and allergy wise) so I need to know when I have to be out of the house while James works.

Once I have done all that, then I can get down to business. It's time to back my words by actions. The rooms won't clean, purge or shine themselves. Only I can. Yet, since I have a list I will feel much more at ease. I won't have to do the whole room one day. Just because I already know what needs to be done is have the battle.

Finally, after a room is completed I just repeat to the next room til all rooms are done.

--

Plain and simple goals but they seemed much harder when I just had the word and no action for them. Now that I know what I need to get down and how to do, I think that cleaning will seem much easier. Yet to make sure that I am putting words into action I am posting here on the blog. I plan to update regularly with all of you so I can inspire and be held accountable.

Do you have any cleaning goals still undone? What about goals in general? Do you have any cleaning tips and tricks? I could sure use some. Let me know in the comments.

Dollar Tree Finds

I love having Instagram. I was on it about a week ago and I discovered DollarTreeLady; she is always posting the finds that she gets at her local Dollar Tree. I thought that would make a great blog post and stashed the idea for later. Well, I went to the dollar tree for some random supplies and here is what I came out with. Most of my buys were for my new craft addiction and how I plan to store//use.

1. Snack Storage Containers -- These were two for one so I only spent four dollars on eight. I planned on using these store scarps of paper but take up more room then I thought so I am just using the round ones for storing paper clips and stick pins. They are awesome because they have a little opening in the top so I don't have to open the whole thing up.

2. Dolly Hearts -- I bought these to craft with, for my smash book.

3. Washi Tape (!!)  -- Yup I found four "washi" tape at the dollar tree. That's like half of the normal cost.

4. Vaseline -- For my dry skin. It works the best, no alcohol or funny smells.

5. "Hello My name is" Labels -- Also bought for my smash book.

6. Chips Ahoy Cookie Snacks --Cause well, who wouldn't. I am the cookie monster.

7. St. Pattys Socks -- I love holiday socks. Plus, my socks seem to be getting eaten by the washing machine or something because I have a ton of single pair socks. Any ideas on what I could do with them?

8. St Pattys Scarf -- This is a Fl scarf, which means that it is really thin but it will be soo warm by March here that it will work great. I can't wait to create an outfit for it.

9. Dividers -- Bought for my school but after using them, I don't like them. The clear divider is really hard to see. Luckily it's the first one but I will probably different ones soon.

10. Pencil Pouches or pencil holders -- These were bought for school as well but I found them really useful for storing scarps of paper, paint samples and more for crafts. They are great because they are flat so they don't take up room and I could put them in a cute binder that holds craft stuff later on.

11. Coupon Holder -- Also bought for the intention of hold scarps but then I loved the pencil pouches better. And I have coupons taking home anyways.

12. St Pattys Stickers -- Can't really smash a St Pattys Day without stickers to match!

13. Photo paper -- I couldn't believe when I found Polaroid printer photo paper in the dollar tree. There is really two sizes there. One is a 8x11 for either a collage or really big pictures and then a 4x6 for smaller collage or photos.

I plan on making a post soon about how I use all these or different ways you can use them, probably in march so keep an eye out.

My Art Update 01.16.13

Over the weekend James and I got really creative. He wanted to try painting out so I thought I would join me. I ended up creating four pictures in one sitting. I was surprised how well they came out. James calls them abstract but I call them me. What do you think?

OLW Freeing Myself // Life Changes + God Control

I am excited to introduce you to my new series, OLW (one little word) freeing myself. Each time I post on this series, I will be writing about a new area in which I learned to free myself in.
Catch up with what my One Little Word is.

Yesterday morning I woke up at 5am completely unexpected so I just went on with my day. BUT life dropped a bomb when my foot was hurting. This told me that I wasn't going to be able to take the class that I wanted. I had visions of what I was going to do in the class and I wrote a post all about the how excited I was. I was really bumped out that I wasn't able to do that class that I wanted. Top all that with other unexpectiveness that life brings and it seemed that nothing was going my way.

But that was the point, nothing was going MY way. I had plans. I had ideas. Yet they weren't what God wanted. God was trying to talk to me and I wasn't listening til now.

I know I don't usually mention God in my posts but to be honest that was because I was mad at him. There were things that happen last year that just totally threw me. I wasn't prepared and I felt that God was laughing at me. However, over the end of the last year I started to realize that wasn't true. God isn't mad at me and that he is really trying to help me.

My point to this is that I am freeing myself to let God take over. I am freeing myself of the control I have. So you might see more about God in my posts to come. I will probably loose readers but I have no control over that. I also have no control over what God does. What he says goes peoples.

Catching Up with Cody 01.05.14

LAST WEEK

THIS WEEK

My weeks start on Monday, don't judge.

WHAT I READ
Since I am a huge reader and I want my blog to be a little bit more book related I thought I would add this section. And yes it will help to keep me accountable. I only read one book so far this year but that's good for me.

FREEING MYSELF MOMENT
I am also adding this section to my Catching Up because I want to keep up with my word each week. I want my word to truly be carried throughout the year. I also like that sharing it will free myself too.

My moment happened when I wrote a blog post draft that I will share towards the end of the month. This post has been along time coming but I just didn't know how to write it. Lucky, I was able to read a bunch of blogs this week and one of them helped inspired me. I am being vague about what this post is but I promise that I will share and that I will be worth the wait.

NEWS
I have some exciting news to share with y'all coming up. Some of if has to do with my #onelittleword #ONLfree. So keep your eyes out on my page or your feed.

Also, I have added email to this feature. I have learned that email is the easiest for keeping up with favorites and I hope I am one. The email will be set up much like this post and will be sent out at the same time as the post. That way you can stay up to date without having to worry about checking back or being bottled down with emails.

Merry Christmas 2013

Merry Christmas everyone!

I can't believe its Christmas already. Not in the sense that the year is ending but that I don't feel like its Christmas. It could be that I missed Cracker Christmas, or that missed the Christmas parade or the lack of snow, or that I'm sick. Whatever the reason it doesn't feel like Christmas. Yet I hope you guys are having a jolly filled one. :)
