Get Messy // October Prompt

When I heard this prompt, I knew how easy it would be choose many things to be grateful for. Yet, I was thinking about a post from another Get Messy Girl, where she writes about being happy or sad. What she is really happy about or really sad about. So for this month’s prompt I took the more philosophical approach.

I have been thinking over that and asking myself questions: What am I thankful for? What am I truly happy about? Or sad about? Where does happiness come from? What is better happiness or being content? That is when I realize one sentence could sum up all of that. If you can’t be happy about the basics of survival (food, water, shelter—no matter the condition), then nothing will make you happy because you don’t appreciate the basics. Everything else in life beside food, shelter and water is extra. You don’t need the extra to get by, really—they just add to life. Those have been my thoughts for the past month and I plan on sharing a full post on all these thoughts next week.

P.S. It's my 10th week! Yay. =]

Get Messy // Magic

With Halloween three weeks away, I can't help but think about it. I am soo excited. I made Halloween hair bows with some fabric I bought at a thrift store. In one of the patterns wizard hats kinda like the ones I painted. I was so inspired by it. Then when one of other Get Mess Girl posted a page with the lyrics of "Kiss Like a Rose" and I knew I had to combine the two. I always think of magic when I hear that song. I am so happy with how it turned out.

Happy Early Halloween!! Do you have any plans for this month or on Halloween? Please, let me know below.

Art Journal // God Gave Me

I have been thinking of all the wonderful things I am thankful lately. It's a long list but it's so tiny things. Like being out of bed or getting mac-n-cheese. These little things make up one whole day for me. It's what pushes to the next. One day I was on the internet and saw a question of "what is you and your husbands song". I looked at the comments curious to see what people put. Someone on there had wrote "God gave me you". I had that song stuck in my head for a few days, thinking over the lyrics. It's so true that God gave me James but more then that, God gave me my hands. He didn't have to; I could have easily been born without them but was.

With my hands I can do so much. I can hug, I can paint, I can type and I can hold His Holy book in my hands. It's the small things I witness with God that put everything back in place.

Today I am thankful for my hands in which I can create and share with you. What are you thankful for today?

Committing to Date Day

I usually don’t post tiny happening on this tiny blog because I feel that this blog is a place for me to post ideas and inspire but sometimes it’s nice to share the little things. To me, it’s the little things that matter most. That’s why I want to share with you guys a different kind of post.

I have my grandmas visiting this Wednesday. I will be going to my mother’s and staying for awhile; which means that my posting here might be light for the next few weeks. At the same time my partner will be working a part time job. So it’s going to be a very busy and full week.

Over last week I had a mile long to do list and do you know what I did? I tossed it out. Yup. I did what I had to and that was it. I wanted to soak in what little time I had left before the stress set in. I wanted to enjoy while I could. And I did just that.
On Friday, while James and I were out running errands together, we decided to take time to enjoy too. We made an impromptu picnic and decided that it was really was the little things that matter. We had decided that it was time to for us to be committed a day to go out on date, even a simple walk at the park.

It’s not like we don’t hang out. We are usually glued to each other but we are also doing about a million things; school, homework, job, blog, art, ect. So although we do those activities together, we aren’t enjoying that time. We are just pushing through the day. Committing ourselves to a date would mean that would let the worries, stress and daily to dos all slip away. We would just be two people enjoying, exactly like a date should be.

I plan on sharing more about how I am going to make that commitment become as easy as possible but for now I just wanted to share the idea. To let be known as to why my blogging will be sparse for the next few weeks.

Get Messy // Realm Unknown

These pages came to me over an internal battle. Another Get Messian happen to post a serious and thought compelled post last week. I want to write a post talking all about it but it's hard to put these feeling into true words. I have a dozen different directions I could go in. Do I post in general or do I get specific? Do I risk hurting others? Do I speak with freedom? These are the thoughts, plus a million more that went into creating these pages.

#DLVoxBox // First Impressions

I made the Dean's List from Influenster and I have a received a free voxbox full of goodies to review. This is only my second time but I think the program is really neat. Especially since they launched their new site that gives a much more accurate account of what you social media reach is. The higher your reach, the better chance you have of getting a box. Yet, the downside is you only have so many days to post your review in. Since I have family coming I wanted to get this up as soon as possible. I have decided to split this into two posts, first impressions and an update. Today you are getting the first impression, included with a video!

1. Softlips Cub: $3.49
I loved the shape! So cute and different. I also love that the top is clear so you can see exactly how much you have left. The flavor I have is blueberry-pomegranate, perfect for me. The only so far "bad" is that smell is a tiny strong so I was coughing a little more when wearing. I think this is so worth the prices and the coughing. I will be using this alot.

2. Airhead Bites: $0.87-$1.29
"Any candy is a welcome sign to a college student" Which is very true. I loved getting these little bites of sweet. They have just the perfect flavors for sharing so that everyone will have one they like. My favorite is the Lemon and least favorite is the Blue Raspberry (never a fan of this). Now I know what to buy if I need a serious sugar rush.

3. KISS Looks so Natural Lashes: $3.99
If you didn't watch the video, then you will know that I don't think I'll wear these. My lashes are just as long so it would only add volume to mine. Plus, I am a girl who believes in being natural. I think that these will be giveaway as a Random Act of Kindness (keep an eye out-no pun intended).

4. Playtex Sport Fresh Balance: $3.99
Another product I will not be able to use. I think that it's neat but the smell is what concerns me. They are scent, kinda alot,as in had-to-be-removed-from-room-alot.  These will also be giveaway as a RAK. Sorry, I just can't do scent or things down in my womanhood.

5. Pilot FriXion Clicker: $5.75 for a 2-pack
Pilot is my favorite maker of pens, period. I love how tiny I can write with them. Great for bibles. Yet, these are even better because they are erasable and gel penned! I already have been loving using them. They don't erase that well but how I use them, it works. I'll will have a more detailed post about these guys to come.

6. CoverGirl Ready, Set Gorgeous Liquid Foundation: $6.99+
As I stated above, I am a more natural girl. Yet, I do have days where I wish I could hide my face. I usually turn to a BB cream for help (these are usually days when I need to do a video/post and my face doesn't like me. We all have those right?) This is a product I will be using to truly see how I like it. I was surprised how well the color matched me based off an online survey. I put it on that day and was surprised to see how light it felt on me. Only set back, my face isn't to sure about it. I broke out a little more then usual the day after. Expect a full and more detailed review of this to come.

7. SinfulColors No Text Red: $1.99
I loved this color right out the box. At first I thought the "No text red" meant no red in your papers cause your smokin' at college. Pretty cute, right? However, it's much more meaningful then that.  SinfulColors is advocating No Texting And Driving with this polish. The idea is that you paint your thumb red to remind yourself not to text and drive. How awesome! (not that anyone should need a reminder). I thought it was pretty cool so I did happen to do my nails. First impressions: went on smooth, no second needed but took a little longer to dry then my other polish. Over all I am thrilled to have this nail polish in my collection. Expect a full and more detailed review to come.

-------------
There is my first impressions to all the wonderful products that Influenster sent to me for review. As stated many times, I will be posting an updated version of this post/product in November. Also make sure to check out my Instagram to see how I am using these items everyday.
**I have received this book for free in exchange for my review/opinions, which are solely mine and not swayed in anyway**

Art // Mistakes

I wanted to share with you guys my mistake page. It doesn't look it because I stopped before I was ahead, kinda of. The page with grey on is glued down to the page before. Why? Because I wanted to try a new technique. I wanted to try painting paper towels. So I glue my paper towel down and started painting. However, the paper towel wasn't acting like normal paper so I had to use more water then paint. That's where my trouble started. Water is not paper friendly. Not as much as I was using. I started to see that this page wasn't going to turn out. Especially when I saw the other side and was shocked to see I could ruin on of my favorite pages. So I took out the paper towel (water and glue don't mix either) and then sopped the water and paint. I also put had to try the other side. I let the whole thing dry over night. In the morning, I didn't know what to do. The page had become really thin. I was scared about my painting so I glued it to the next. That way it gave my page strength and I didn't have to look at the mess.

To be honest, this could have turned out soooo much worse. I realized how great a lesson this is. We have to make mistakes, in art and in life. But that doesn't mean it has to turn ugly. I don't have to throw an grown up tantrums because it didn't turn out. I can be mature and level headed. I can see what I did wrong, fix what I can and move on. It's all any of us can. If we learn something is what makes the difference.

Get Messy // Red Holidays

I made this spread at the same time as my Hello Fall spread. I was thinking about all the wonderful colors of fall; orange, yellow, sage green, brown and RED. I thought about how funny it was that red was a color of fall and I am redhead. Then I got to thinking about how red is also in Christmas. So I went through the holidays (I would list them but I think you get the idea) and it seems about 95% of all Holidays has red in them. If anything all the Holidays I know have a redhead in them. hehe.

In case you were wondering, I made this page using acrylic paints, gold sharpie and a cut out from a free magazine in the mail. Magazines are great places to pick up inspiration and wonderful photos. Yet if you don't have alot of money google free catalogs and there is a HUGE lists of ones you can get. Mostly clothing ones but still, it's something.

Hope you enjoyed and are as ready for this wonderful autumn season as I am! Tell me what you have planned?
