Book Review: Redeeming Love

Book Review: Redeeming Love

Redeeming Love by: Francine Rivers
Description from Goodreads: California's gold country, 1850. A time when men sold their souls for a bag of gold and women sold their bodies for a place to sleep.

Angel expects nothing from men but betrayal. Sold into prostitution as a child she survives by keeping her hatred alive. And what she hates most are the men who use her, leaving her empty and dead inside.

Then she meets Michael Hosea. A man who seeks his Father's heart in everything, Michael obeys God's call to marry Angel and to love her unconditionally. Slowly, day by day, he defies Angel's every bitter expectation, until despite her resistance, her frozen heart begins to thaw.

But with her unexpected softening come overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. And so Angel runs. Back to the darkness, away from her husband's pursuing love, terrified of the truth she no longer can deny: Her final healing must come from the One who loves her even more than Michael does ... the One who will never let her go.

My Review: I loved this book. I think this is a great book for everyone, especially teens. I think it shows justice to what love is and how God is.

Rate: 5 stars

Story of how I got the book:
Susan (my best friend) and I were hanging out at Waterford hoping to find a journal that we could start together (another post), when we went to Target. Inside Target we were crusing through the DVD section and saw a Titanic Collection Set for 20 dollars. Inside had things about the real Titanic. This made me want to see if they had a book about it. Once in the books we did not see a book about Titanic but we saw lots of other books. Being HUGE book worms we went over to Barnes and Noble to find a real book to read. Once there we looked all over for a good book. Susan had already found one but I didn't. We decided to go over to the manga (Japanese comic) section because I was disappointed I had not found a book. When we sat down with our mangas, I saw Susan had two books normal books in her hand. So I asked her why she had two. Then she showed me the other books and I decided that was a book that I wanted to read too. (I write inside books that I really really like and this book had potential for that and that is why I bought it and not borrowed it from Susan like I normally do.) So off I went to buy it.

Redeeming Love is a great book! I haven't read it in a while. If I ever can get through my "to read" list maybe I'll reread it.
