Preview to Summer 1st Link-Up: Top Three Favorite Books

When I saw the subject, I couldn't believe it. My top three books. I knew two but to choose a third. So what do I do? I turn to my trusty Goodreads account for help. I soon knew my answer.
 1. The Music of Dolphins by Karen Hesse. mentioned this one in my blog a few times. This book has been with me since I was in 4th grade, the first time I read it. If it wasn't for this book, I wouldn't be who I am. One day I will post the impact this book has made on my life.
1. Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. I think I blogged about this, long ago. This book was a bitter sweet book but so worth it. It just hits home with me. Probably because I felt my life wasn't far off from Angel, main character. I will am sure one day explain my reasons but for now my scares are still new.
1. Mocking Jay by Suzanne Collins. I was going to choose a much cuter picture but then I realized that might spoil, well, ALOT so I went with this one instead. I hate people that spoil and I wouldn't want to do that to my readers. It is weird that I love the last book but it's another bittersweet book. I love how the Heroine isn't really a heroine. I can't say to much but it's another that hits home to me. (I have my reasons, and yes, I am a Peeta fan. I don't like Gale, I have reasons too.)

Also, I would like to shout out to Maria for inspiring the design.
Also a shout out to Deviantart, where I found the art.

Me as a Literary Junky

Proved by
 Literary Junkies
"Let's learn about each others Reading Habits!!"

1. Amazon or brick and mortar?
I'd rather go brick and mortar (to a store) but since my wallet can't handle full prices I usually go Amazon, if I have to buy. If want to read, library!
2. Locally owned bookshop or big name chain?
- I would rather go to a locally owned bookstore but to do that means a special trip because they are in the wrong direction.
3. Bookmark or dog-ear?
- "Funny you should ask, Allen" When I was a kid I was the one that dog-eared. I loved it because I could dog-ear it to the exact line that I was reading. Now that I am older (and renting books) I don't do so.
4. Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random?
- Alphabetize by TITLE after of course my Favorites. They always go first.
5. Keep, throw away, or sell?
- Keep ones that I love, sell ones that I don't and throw away books that shouldn't be alive. I know that last part will get some upset but there a few books that I don't think people should read. Just my option and since they are my books, then yes I can throw them away.
6. Read with dust jacket or remove it?
- I read with my dust jacket on. I use it as my bookmark and that's why I like buying hard back more then paperback.
7. Keep dust jacket or toss it?
- Well if you read number 6 then you should know I KEEP! The dust jacket is an art work of the book.
8. Short story or novel?
- Novel. Short Story are cool for school. Not for me reading.
9. Collection (short stories by same author) or anthology (short stories by different authors)?
- Collection because I like to get to know the author. A short story with one author isn't enough time with that person.
10. Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
- I usually read til a chapter break. Inless I am THAT tried but I try to always stop at a break.
11. “It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”?
- "It was a dark and stormy night" when Cody discovered the books that start with that line have a much better ending. haha.
12. Buy or borrow?
- Uhhhh... Both. I will borrow but I perfer buy cause I am the girl that underlines/write in the book. Books are like my diaries.
13. New or used?
- I like the smell of new books better but I most of the books I feel in love with are ones I picked up at a thrift store.
14. Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse?
- I usually just browse til I find something or I used to, then goodreads was created. After that I go by what a few of fellow bloggers say. Mostly Rae Guns cause she and  I have similar taste.
15. Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
- If you know me I HATE CLIFFHANGERS!! It will automatically ruin any good book for me, unless of course they tie everything up for me in the next book.
16. Morning, afternoon or nighttime reading?
- I prefer before bed reading because it helps keep my nightmares away but I usually read all day.
17. Single volume or series?
- Uh. This is hard. Single if it well written and ties up nicely. If it is a cliffhanger then by the love of books there better be a series.
18. Favorite series?
- I haven't read to many series that I enjoy so
HUNGER GAMES
I am currently reading the Caster Chronicles (Beautiful Creatures) and so far so good.
19. Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
- That's easy. Music of Dolphins OR Where the Heart Is. Both are amazing but the second one you may have heard of. My best friend calls it "The Wal-Mart Baby" book. haha.

James' Art

Many of you know I talk about my special guy James. Well lately he has been creating art work and I have been mostly Instagraming his art but I thought I might share some of his work.
Wolverine. His first in a LONG time. Done in mechanical pencil.
(Unfinished) Ironman gif. Done in "fancy" pencils.
(Unfinished) His Batman head. Done in "fancy" pencils.
(Unfinished, in working progress) Second Ironman. Done in "fancier" pencils.

I hope that ya'll enjoyed. He just started drawing after 20+ years. I think he is doing an amazing job. These were mostly practices. I can't wait to what he will do next.
Also, I am drawing too. I will show them one day.

What do you think?
Do you draw?

Popular Pinterest Board

If you have me on pinterest you probably seen me post alot of pins that look like the one above. The only difference is that they express how readers/book nerds feel about their books.

This is by the far the most popular board I own. I get a email everyday about how someone repined one or many of these little guys. I am proud and I wish I could take credit for them but I can't: I got them from http://bookfessions.tumblr.com/ They have TONS more then what I pinned. So I thought I would share with you guys a few that describe me perfectly.

Yeah. These are pretty much me. I have been dying for my own library for as long as I can remember.

The Books Ends March 2013

Every first Monday of the Month I do a review of the books that I read.

April 2013

Goodreads Summary: Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

My Thoughts:  This was alot like another book I read, almost to the point where it was the same BUT it was different too. This was like the teenage version of the other one that I read. I don't have anything bad to say about this book.

 Rating:  3 stars

Goodreads Summary: Gen's family is more comfortable spending time apart than together. Then Gen's mom signs them up for Camp Frontier—a vacation that promises the "thrill" of living like 1890s pioneers. Forced to give up all of her modern possessions, Gen nevertheless manages to email her friends back home about life at "Little Hell on the Prairie," as she's renamed the camp. It turns out frontier life isn't without its good points—like the cute boy who lives in the next clearing. And when her friends turn her emails into a blog, things start to get a little more hairy.

My Thoughts: I thought it was a great book. Although the books keeps things pretty light I still enjoyed it. I really inspired me. I really want to buy this book so that I can read it over and over. I like  the main characters humor.

Rate: 5  Stars.

Goodreads Summary: Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath. Now she’s returned—to her old life, her family, her boyfriend—before she’s banished back to the underworld . . . this time forever. She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can’t find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

My Thoughts: I was surprised that I read this all the way through. It wasn't bad but it was really really sappy and I hate girls that can't figure out what they want. Once she did, it wasn't bad. It's kinda a bad love story that I couldn't look away from. Anyways, I liked (LIKED) how it ended and kinda excited to see what the next book is going to hold.

Rate: 2  Stars.

CURRENTLY READING:

Summary: The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, numerous, messy, affectionate. And every day from her balcony perch, seventeen-year-old Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs her terrace and changes everything. As the two fall fiercely in love, Jase's family makes Samantha one of their own. Then in an instant, the bottom drops out of her world and she is suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself?

I've bee pretty bad about reading these last two months but then again I did start a series that I just couldn't seem to get though. I am still trying to read Inkdeath but I don't think that I am going to finish it anytime soon.

What have you been reading? Anything good?
